Mine awareness

Warning about the dangers of mines.

MgM staff perform important educational tasks in schools - warning about the dangers of mines.

The children show their idolization of the MgM deminers in their games. They re-build the entire MgM fleet of vehicles out of tin cans.

Knowledge is life saving.

Again and again children fall victim to mines because they are curious and too careless with the left overs of armed conflicts. Informed education about dangerous areas, warning signs and acting cautiously can save lives.

With the aid of wooden models, posters, songs and role playing games, the danger can be illustrated even to very young children.

Whenever possible and suitable the MgM deminers go to schools after work and talk to the old and young villagers about the deadly dangers that can lurk around the village. The school is often just a big tree in the village centre, so everyone tends to gather around. The MgM deminers are always welcome guests - and for the children, they are idols.

To perform our Mine Awareness education even better in the future, an all-terrain vehicle is currently being modified with a large screen, speakers and a specially developed teaching system.

We will report on this area of our work in more detail in the future.
