Akaman and Ben at Work
Two MgM Dogs, Akaman and Ben, checking for anti-tank mines on public land near Xangongo. Xangongo had three barriers of anti-tank mines that were removed during 1992-1994.
Unfortunately some mines were missed, one truck and a failed demining machine (Mine Clearance Cultivator - MCC) were recently blown up close to where the dogs are checking now. Land must be safe before being handed over to communities for farming and building homes. Mines, or other explosive devices can easily be mistaken for toys by inquisitive children.
