Little bigger than a small car but extremely versatile: MAXX
on his way to one of its first test runs in Namibia, Africa. |
 |
Dangerous UXO, mines and unstable items can be taken by the MAXX
special fork and transported to a blast place without any risk.

 |
With the help of a variety of special tools the risks of the demining
process can be reduced to a minimum.

AN UNMANNED HD ROBOT
MgM has various Mechanically Assisted Demining
Machines (MaM) which we build up from standard,
commercial equipment (COTS) with attachments
that perform various demining tasks. Our recently
developed robotic Multitool-Carrier MAXX is
based on a matured serial product too. Originally
designed for the demolition industry and for
the use inside the hot zones of atomic power
plants the remote controlled robot will help
to minimise the risks of humanitarian demining
operations. All the tools and attachments are
designed for different demining tasks and quickly
exchangeable. The tools are especially build
to fit the carriers size and hydraulic power
system and form a modular toolbox.
THE ADVANTAGES OF THE MAXX
The carefully chosen RC-Multitool prime mover can be used
- to remotely investigate any suspect items through
- a wireless video system,
employ new sensors or
- the e.g. hydraulic Mulcher for rapid cutting of vegetation,
- plus remotely remove unstable items or place explosive charges for
disposal operations in volatile environments.
Please have a look at the picture galleries (linked below) shot during
the first very promising tests in Namibia where international observers
were present. The potential of the machine became very obvious. First
serious requests of international demining organisations reached the MgM
office, Namibia.
A CD-ROM documents the tests and includes an impressive video of the MAXX
performance. Feel free to order your copy: ehlers@mgm.org
